Does digital 0 count as negative for a motor?
Posted on Mar 06, 2010 under Digital news and reports |I am making a circuit and I am using a NAND gate that’s output is 0, it will be connected to a motor that is already connected to +, will it still turn or is it not negative enough or something?

A logic gate won’t provide the current sink needed for a motor. Use a digital gate to drive a transistor which can sink a lot more current than a digital gate.

give the ouput of the NAND gate to a motor IC say LM324 and then connect the motor through that IC. The motor IC balances the current requirement of the motor. The IC works at lower voltages(5V max.) and a motor at higher voltage(atleast 6v).so, the interfacing between the 2 requires a motor IC
