Yes

Definitely yes.

Absolutely no!
The megapixel = quality myth is one of the biggest lies the camera makers are pressing around for years! The truth is, a good lens and a good sensor are the most important things in quality department. Any camera with 6mp or more is enough for just about anybody. The only time you’d want high mp count, is when you want to print poster size. For regular prints up to 8×10, you’re good with 6mp and up.
Here’s a little more info about the megapixel myth from the pro:

No. Most cameras today have 10+ megapixels, which is more than enough for most people. 5 or 6 is really what most people need.
People who say "more megapixels = better quality" obviously don’t take the time to research and are clueless about cameras.

More pixels is not always better. The size of the pixels is just as, if not more, expensive. When light travels through the lens and hits the pixels on the camera’s sensor, they activate and become part of the picture. If light does not activate a pixel, it fails to activate and gives the photo a grainy look. The more unactivated pixels on the sensor, the grainer and out of focus the final image will look. The more pixels you cram on the sensor, the smaller each pixel becomes. Smaller pixels means more of a chance they will not be hit by light, and therefore will not activate. Unless you are using a dslr camera with a VERY expensive large aperture lens, or are making very log exposures, really high mega-pixel range cameras actually produce worse images!

Not necessarily. Sensor size has a lot to do with it; I’ve read that pixel size does as well (don’t ask me to explain it as i don’t really understand it myself!).
More megapixels is good if you want to make large prints. Since most people don’t print their photos (and if they do, it’s usually 4×6 prints), more and more megapixels doesn’t really make a noticeable difference to the average person.

sensor/pixels size is more important than pixel count.

I will say YES.
But Professional photographer would say NO. Idk why.
I’m a Computer Student not a Photographer. And as far as I know abut pixel, if you have higher MP in cameras, it will allow you to capture more details (Larger Picture)…even though our computer screen shows about 3MP of details (or less)…a 15 MP picture will look SHARPER on it.
and for the advantage of high MP is that,
If you use a telephoto zoom lens and take picture of the moon, it’s not clear enuf…but if you use editing software to CROP the moon, (it will bring from 15 MP to say 2-3 MP after cropping).. You’ll still have good picture with extra close up without loosing quality to the human eye.
But I heard if you use too much MP on picture they get noiser…so yeah.. once again, i’m not a photographer pro…
