How to find wide lens for Canon Digital Rebel XT 350d?
Posted on Mar 08, 2010 under Digital news and reports |I have a Canon Rebel EOS DSLR XT 350d. I’m looking for wide lens. I looked on amazon and I don’t know which one to pick. I haven’t looked at BH Photography yet. I just want to know which lens to get and without trying it on my camera.
I can’t afford anything too pricey. Something in the 300 and below range works for me.

There are many good wide lenses for your Canon DSLR; prices are from 400$ and up. Most of them are really good, and they are from Sigma, Tokina, Canon and Tamron.

I guess first you have to decide whether you want a ‘fixed’ lens (also known as a prime lens), or a zoom lens.
Zoom lenses are more versatile in the sense that you can change from, say wide angle to normal or telephoto, but they are "slow" (meaning they aren’t as good for shooting in low light), and they tend to be less sharp than prime lenses.
For a canon rebel (or for that matter most digital cameras, with some exceptions), you will want something like 18mm if you want to shoot wide angle pictures.
I have a zoom lens (18-50mm) that works fine on my Canon digital eos camera. Until I can afford a prime lens, this is the one I use.

Use the B&H Photo website search function (see link below). On the left side you will be able to choose options to narrow down the list.
If you want wide angle you will want lenses that provide you 18mm or less. You can look at prime lenses with no zoom ability or zoom lenses that go into lower focal lengths (18mm or less)
