lines in a digital pregnancy test are they reliable?
Posted on Mar 08, 2010 under Digital news and reports |i took a digital test and it said negative but when i took the stick out it had two lines in it.one dark and one faint. can i take this as a positive? i read up on how these test have not been proven to read LH and that if there are two lines its positive, it also said that if u are not pregnant it should only have one line?

You can’t open up a digital test and read the stick like a traditional test. The strips are activated in a different way than what you would see in a regular HPT.
You can’t go by what some random person on the internet says about a digital test. You have to use the manufacturer’s instructions, otherwise you invalidate the test the second you step outside the bounds of the test parameters.
If you’re hopeful, it’s normal to want to pry apart the pregnancy test and try to scrutinize the lines to see a positive result, but you’re only going to bring yourself more heartbreak if/when your period shows up.
I would suggest that you get a traditional test, not only so you know what the lines mean, but also because I’m not sure a digital test’s answer changes if the positive takes longer to show up. All the ones I’ve tried give you an answer in an impossibly short period of time (30 seconds to 1 minute), so I much prefer a test I can read after 3 minutes.
If your test is still negative then, just wait another week (as all the sites you’ve probably read have told you to do) and then go to a doctor for a blood test.
