digital tv~~~questions about installation?

Posted on Mar 09, 2010 under Digital news and reports |

Today they are coming to install digital t.v, will they be using the existing cable lines or will those need to be switched over, if they need to be switched, I have to start moving furniture and things in the basement now. The company has not returned my email. Any help would be great, thanks :)

  1. depends on how old the cable is most of them wont change the cable but they might.sorry it’s not a yes or no answer

  2. If you’re talking about upgrading an existing cable TV service from analog to digital, there’s ordinarily no reason for any new or different cable wiring in your house. In a perfect world, your cabling would be the preferred RG6 grade as opposed to the older RG59 grade (common in new construction for many years), but RG59 cabling in good condition is not a problem. I have very long runs of it throughout my house and the HD reception on digital cable is great.

If you’re talking about a new satellite installation on a building that previously did not have it, some new wiring will be necessary on the outside walls, but they typically reuse any inside cabling that already exists.
