What is the best digital camera to get?
Posted on Mar 09, 2010 under Digital news and reports |I’m looking to get a new digital camera soon but I’m not sure which one to get because there are so many. I do not want anything expensive, just something that will take good pictures and has a decent amount of space. This camera will only be used to take recreational pictures like vacation trips, birthday parties, etc. Pictures and prices will help. Thanks!

The best thing to do is go to your library and get a copy of Consumer Reports. They do unbiased testing and ratings of products and are very trustworthy. They also provide prices and pictures. They don’t put this info on their website for free, except to subscribers, but a librarian would be happy to help you.

My crystal ball is dark! It needs more information to help you and believe me a lot of us want to make a good suggestion based on what you feel you can spend on your next camera and to fill your needs.
What is expensive to you $150, $200, $300? Please, oh please give us more information. Do you want a camera equal to the snapshot "Brownie box camera". Or do you want really sharp pictures and a small camera? Or a camera that takes sharp pictures with a nice long zoom?

Whatever camera you get, you will have to buy a memory card. Don’t be misled by cheap cameras that tell you they can hold 100 pictures. They are crappy low resolution photos and you would be lucky to get a wallet sized print from them. Get a camera that has an optical zoom or combination optical, digital zoom. Digital zoom is awful. I have no idea what you want to spend, so I would suggest, that you stick to the companies like Nikon and Canon. Find something from them in your price range.

I would suggest Canon PowerShot SD1200IS 10 MP with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD, a good compact camera which not expensive and take good picture quality.
