Issue with Time Warner Cable’s Digital Cable box?
Posted on Mar 10, 2010 under Digital news and reports |It just started tonight so I’m not sure what’s going on.
About every 30 minutes to an hour, my box will turn off (which also turns off the TV because for whatever reason the TV’s power plugs into the cable box), anyway.. The first time that it turned itself off, I turned it back on to find that some things were changed (mainly in List), in "List" there were now categories for specific shows if more than one episode of the show was recorded, it had its own category and the movies were separate, but it turns off after the new addition as well.
So is Time Warner updating my box or is there something wrong with it? And are they capable of remotely turning off the power to my box?

Sounds like they are indeed updating the software on the box. That results in a reboot.
Btw, you can plug the TV directly into the wall outlet if you want to.
