I’m starting on a indie production that will go straight-to-dvd, not requiring the extensive resolution of a film that will be shown in cinemas on a projector. I can only spend $800 on a digital movie camera, and I need something that will look professional on dvd, able to capture beauty in light and dark places. I truly cannot spend more than $800, this film is going to shine more with special shots, scenery, and acting more than the video quality, but I need something that is not obviously low-quality. I’ve considered the Vixia series of Canon, but is any other recomendations for this same price??? An additional detail is this film is a dark indie film that is relying on natural sets and lighting, natural artistic stuff, it is not a complex production.
Also, if I truly do 100% with no possible alternatives need to spend a little more on a better camera, please still recommend something under $2000.

ok i reallyyy need help finding the perfect camera i love canon digital cameras but the last two i’ve had didnt make me completely happy. i just bought the canon powershot a1100 and i HATE it and like a week ago i bought the canon sd780 it was sooooo nice but its so tiny and after a week of having it the screen broke . my cousin in law had a canon digital camera and i really dont know what the name is but i’ve been looking for it, for about a year it has this soft effect on your pictures i think its called beauty shot its a wide screen probably a 2.7-2.8 lcd screen and its either 10 or 12 mega pixels its probably hard to figure out what camera im talking about since most canons have almost the same effects but if anyone knows any canon digital cameras that fit what im lookinng for plz let me know i graduate in june and i really want a nice camera before then . ill really appreciate it ALOT !

Im in the market for a new digital camera. I’ve been looking at the Canon 780 IS. (http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-cameras/canon-powershot-sd780-is/4505-6501_7-33528993.html) but I want to be sure i get a good camera. I cant really spend more than $200 on a camera. I need to get a compact point and shoot camera. The canon is 12 is a megapixel camera with a 720P video option, these are the two reasons im considering the camera.
Anyone have any experience with this camera, or care to offer up another good camera?
My only requirement is that the camera is SD card compatible.
Thanks!

We really only use our TV (it’s new enough to have a digital tuner) to watch movies but we’re trying to catch the Olympics and we lose signal every time a car goes by.
We have an antenna inside, and there’s a DIshNetwork dish on the roof. Is there any relatively easy way to get better signal, or at least signal that doesn’t just crash every 12 seconds?

I spilled some pop on my digital camera on New Years eve. Ever since it’s had a hard time. it’s much slower and the Lens doesn’t like to go back down when i turn it off and the shutters don’t open all the way when i turn it on. anyone know how i could fix this? a way that’s fairly cheap but effective..?
