I’m thinking about buying a digital camera…?
Posted on Jun 22, 2010 under Digital news and reports |However, i’m stuck between the Sony CyberShot TX7, the NIkon Coolpix S8000, and the Canon Powershot SD3500. If anyone could help it would be awesome because i have no exposeure to try any of these cameras in stores as they are broken or absent. Thanks
Anyone Else? And doesnt the 3500 have a 5x zoom?

Just on a company basis, I would go the Canon.
Sony refused to repair an item 8 days out of warranty. Even after I offered to pay for it.
Nikon cameras $600 & up great, had a problem with a $300 Nikon for the wife first day out-returned the camera and bought a Fuji-more features, and less expensive.
I have had Canons all my life and never had a problem that I hadn’t caused through rough professional use. So buy Canon. My only exception is the lens. Try and find one you can afford with a 5x optical zoom lens, you will be much happier. 3x optical zoom never! 4x maybe if camera size is a factor! But 5x is preferred.

Personally I would recommend Sony TX7. It is compact, good picture even in low light and also take very good HD video.

Good Points:
-> Best low-light pictures (finally!!!)
-> Amazing Panaromic mode. It is sooo easy to use.
-> So many modes, but auto is the best mode.
-> Tap to focus certain areas of the screen! Very cool.
-> The most compact camera I have seen that has a solid build to it. Nothing cheap about it (including the price!)
-> Ability to zoom while recording HD movies! A huge plus.
-> 29 minutes of continuous video recording. (most cameras only allow 10)
-> The touch screen has an ‘easy mode’ (aka idiot mode), which hides away all the advanced features and makes it very easy to use
-> My SDHC card works (min 8gb recommended)
-> Made in Japan (no offense, but to me this says alot about the build quality)
Minor Points:
-> Battery is not the best, but is not horrible either. Would recommend trying it out first. For most people, it should not be a problem, However, it is so tiny that you can easily carry a couple of them with you. Wait for the prices to come down on the battery and snag a couple of them.
-> The silver is actually dark silver. You could even say its dark grey. Looks much better in reality than in pictures. Having said that, I think the Red would be sexy as well!

For this three model Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX7 is better or popular than Nikon Coolpix S8000 & Canon PowerShot SD3500IS. I recommend get a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX7.
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX7 is have a touchscreen LCD, have a Manual Focus, support Full HD movie (1080p).
Nikon Coolpix S8000 is no a touchscreen LCD, no Manual Focus, support HD movie (720p), but all this three model the Nikon Coolpix S8000 is good Optical zoom (10x).
Canon PowerShot SD3500IS is have a touchscreen LCD, no Manual Focus, support HD movie (720p).
