I have a digital converter on my tv. How do I program my VCR/set my Tv to record?
Posted on Jul 02, 2010 under Digital news and reports |Do I program channel 3 on the VCR or the channel I want to record? Do I turn off the TV but leave the box on? I have tried different things but cannot get a show to record. The VCR is hooked up correctly.

(This answer assumes you are located in North America)

The converter has to be left on. It doesn’t matter whether the TV is on.

Assuming that you have the`converter box output connected to the VCR’s antenna input, you just set the VCR to record channel 3 or 4, whichever you choose when you set up the converter.
If you still have trouble, try thinking of it from the VCR’s standpoint; from the VCR’s standpoint the converter box acts like a little TV transmitter on analog channel 3 or 4. As far as the VCR is concerned that is the only channel that exists.
Of course, when you play the video tape, you have to set the TV to the channel the VCR outputs on; that could be set up as either 3 or 4.
