THe flash on my digital camera is not working?

the red light by the flash symbol is lighting up. I have a Nikon Coolpix L20. I have already changed the batteries. how can I fix it?
I have the flash on. It’s just not working

    Go to the settings and change the flash to on. Or there could even be a switch on the front or back of the camera for a flash.
