Remote controls for digital cameras?
Posted on Jul 08, 2010 under Digital news and reports |I really want to look into a remote control for my camera. That way I can control some of my shots better and take some better portraits. My camera is a Canon EOS 350D Digital. I don’t know if you can get a remote for it, or which remote to get. I’ve tried googling it but I think I’m searching the wrong thing, none of the results I get tell me anything.
Does anybody know if there are remotes that work with my camera, their cost ect?

No problem.
There’s the infra-red remote. Cheap but must be used in line-of-site of the receiver on the camera - usually on the front. A range of about 10′. Costs a couple of $. Note that only the Shutter release and 2 second delay release will work on your camera - the other buttons work on Canon compact cameras.

Cable release. Must be used in range of your camera (natch!) but in any direction. Price depends on length.
This 10′ cable is $11.95. A good point is it requires no battery. It’s really annoying to have a project in mind and get stymied by a dead remote battery.

Radio Remote. A box attaches to the camera and you have the push button trigger. It works up to 30′ or so in any direction, even through glass. Around $40.
