What digital camera should I buy?

I have around $500 to spend on a digital camera, my friends have recommended the Lumix or the best Canon I can afford. I’d like it to be small/slim if possible.
Any recommendations? I looked at sample photos from the Lumix and they looked a little blurry.
I’ll be taking photos of the outdoors as well as people, and probably many of animals so I’d like the sharpness to be good eg. pick up on detail on fur

However, i’m stuck between the Sony CyberShot TX7, the NIkon Coolpix S8000, and the Canon Powershot SD3500. If anyone could help it would be awesome because i have no exposeure to try any of these cameras in stores as they are broken or absent. Thanks

Penetration Testing vs Digital Forensics?

I’m currently choosing between 2 courses to do at university but I can’t decide. I’ve always been keen on doing something in IT and I’ve narrowed it down to courses on:

Ethical Hacking and Countermeasures
&
Digital Forensics.

The hacking course will give me the education to become basically a tester of computer systems testing the security of a companies computer networks.
The forensics course will give me the education to work sometimes with the police to gather evidence from computers against someone.

I’ve done my research and both seem interesting but I still can’t decide.
What I’m asking is, what course/career would you guys pick and why?
I’m particularly interested in:
What seems most interesting?
The salary difference?
Any particular benefits between the two?
